| Holy Hill has quite a history,
it started when Marquette erected a cross on the peak and then in
1855, Fr. Francis Pauhuber purchased the site and erected a 15-foot
wooden cross.
A small chapel was built in 1863 and dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. In 1906 the Discalced Carmelites of Bavaria took over and in 1931 built a new church and monastery. When you visit their site be sure to light a vigil candle. |
