National Shrine Centre
Allentown, PA
St. John Neumann founded the
first Catholic parish in Allentown, PA which he called The Church of the
Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is now the National
Shrine Centre. The steeple is 185 feet high and can be seen from miles
away. There are sixteen painted and stained glass windows depicting the
life of the Blessed Virgin Mary and one of The Sacred Heart of Jesus.
We arrived here after closing hours, but members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society that were meeting in the rectory very graciously opened it up and showed us through. We thank them for their hospitality. These new pictures were taken by:

He was the official photographer for the 150th anniversary of the shrine. Thank you Mr. Heck for these beautiful pictures. |
