Saint Philippine
Duchesne was born in France in 1769. She served during the
French Revolution helping the sick and the poor. After becomming a Nun of
the Society of the Sacred Heart, she came to New Orleans in 1818 and then
went to St. Charles, MO. where she opened a school, later a convent, and
an orphanage. When she was seventy-two she started a school for the Potawatomi Indians. There are 2 links that should be explored to learn more about her life. |
