The Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was constructed in 1871 and a magnificent altar of Carrara marble, in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, was built as it's centerpiece. The church was named a basilca in 1954 by Pope Pius XII.

Today, more than 100 years later, devotions in honor of the Mother of Perpetual Help are held at the shrine every Wednesday. We "Open Wide the Doors" to welcome everyone to this shrine.
