The chapel on the campus of Ursuline Academy in New Orleans was designated the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor on January 8, 1924. Established in New Orleans in 1727, the Ursulin Academy was the first educational institution for women in the United States and is almost as old as the city itself. |
