The shrine was established in 1888 by Rev. Louis G. Clermont after he secured relics of St. Anne. On July 18, 1888 a novena was started for nine days ending on July 26th, the Feast of Saints Anne and Joachim with a candlelight procession through the West Covington neighborhood. This tradition continues today.
